Kadoelerbos

The Kadoelerbos lies parallel to the old coastline of the IJsselmeer and is a very varied forest. The subsoil contains a lot of boulder clay, which makes the soil more humid. Mushrooms grow very well here and nearly 1,500 different species have already been counted in the forest. The knolamanite, which is rare in our country and highly poisonous, is very common here, for example.

Kadoelerveld

Next to the Kadoeler forest and surrounded by trees lies the Kadoelerveld. These former agricultural fields were transformed into nature areas a few years ago. This new nature, with ponds and marshy lowlands, forms a transition from the Kadoeler forest to the open polder landscape. Plants and animals already living in the Voorsterbos are thus given a larger habitat and can better maintain and spread. And with success: the kingfisher is now regularly spotted here!
