Want a day out? Go to the petting zoo Kinderboerderij Emmelerbos in Emmeloord! This little farm is located in the middle of the woods and is not just a petting zoo full of animals. It is also a place of meaningful daily employment for people with a mental handicap under the supervision of enthusiastic activity coordinators and animal care staff.
Once a month, a children's activity is organised on a Wednesday afternoon. It is always pleasantly busy then. The children's farm is the destination for many a school trip or excursions from other organisations. The petting zoo is also open at weekends, when there are no clients.
On the terrace you can enjoy hot and cold drinks with or without a pastry, sweets and crisps, soup, a sandwich or poffertjes. There is also a playground where children can expend their energy.
